In 2008 John and the band were recognized by the International Polka
Association and won awards for the “CD of the Year” for their current
recording BULLETPROOF POLKAS and IPA “Song of the Year” for the
song “Kiss of Fire”.
The band has performed throughout Canada, the USA, Europe and
even cruised through the Caribbean performing at various festivals,
dances and special events.
The Mon Valley's newest Polka sensation! The Push caters to polka fans
of all ages. They perform older polka standards as well as more upbeat
"EXTREME PUSH" polkas for the younger fans. You won't want to miss
the Push's crowd pleasing Dueling Horns and light show!
John Stevens' Doubleshot formed together in January 1995. A young and
energetic band releasing their first cassette "Doubleshot Preview" in March
1995. Then in 1996 the band released their first full recording "Come On
Let's Dance". Not only is John Stevens' Doubleshot a polka band but they
can mix up the music to fit any occasion.
2008 Gammy Nominees, Jerry Darlak and the Touch, are one of the nation's
premier polka bands featuring Polka Hall of Fame musicians Jerry Darlak
and Mike Nowakowski along with Ken Machelski, Ray Barsukiewicz,
Ricky Pijanowski and the infamous Tadj!
The Polish Canadian Folk Choir "Ludowa Nuta" of Hamilton Ontario has been
performing since October of 2005. The group consists of 45 enthusiasts of
Polish folk music and has delighted audiences in both Canada and the United
States with over 60 performances to date. Acclaimed for it's authenticity,
energy and enthusiasm, the choir is ready to enhance the
2010 Polish Heritage Festival!
Cracovia Polish Dance Ensemble
from Brampton, Canada
Polish Dance Ensemble “Cracovia” was founded in December 2004 at
Saint Eugene de Mazenod Mission in Brampton from initiative of father
Adam Filas. The Artistic Director and Choreographer is Monika Falarz.
Most of the dancers in the group are teenagers or young adults of polish
descent and there are currently over 50 members in the ensemble.
“Cracovia” in its short existence, has had many performances in
Brampton, Toronto, and Canada. Most of the time, “Cracovia” performs
for important religious and national polish holidays in order to keep up the traditions and memories of our ancestors.
The group’s initiative is to promote and represent the Polish culture among
the Polish community and the multicultural community, to portray beautiful
and rich Polish traditions and sources of our faith and national identity.
“Cracovia” is extremely grateful for any words of encouragement and
recognition, which allow the group to grow and preserve the thousand year
old history of Polish Folklore.
The Polish Heritage Dancers of Western New York are dedicated
to promoting our ancestral heritage through the performance of
traditional songs and folk dances.
A childrens' show that will be sure to entertain your children or
your grandchildren, with music and songs that will be educational!
They will even learn a little Polish and have fun too!
Biedronka
Polish Theatre for Children Biedronka is dedicated to providing entertainment
for the youngest generation of the Polish descendants. All of the Biedronka's
performances are in Polish language, featuring such Polish authors as Brzechwa, Tuwim, Gellner or Siwek, as well as Gaweda's or Fasolki's songs -
all very popular in Poland, and Polish communities throughout North America.
In addition to shorter performances associated with Polish cultural events
taking place in the Greater Toronto Area, Biedronka has been entertaining our
youngsters with vibrant plays for over 7 years! To name a few: 'Jas i Malgosia',
'Akademia Pana Kleksa', 'Calineczka'. Once again, our repertoire is dedicated
to children; while Polish speaking children are actively participating in
Biedronka's productions.
